Glynn HallTarpon fishing at Bahia Honda Bridge with Capt Pete Rapps needs to be Disney's next white knuckle ride. From the moment you set out the tension builds. Capt Rapps puts you right on the fish. Remember what it was like when you were a kid watching the bobber and waiting for it to go down? well it's just like that except when it does your attached to 100lbs of silver bullet. This is what happened to us...A fish takes your bait and runs for the bridge structure. As you apply all the strain you can, Pete guns the boat and the battle is on! The fish runs into open water leaping wildly and shaking its body and head like crazy. You drop the rod tip and by a mirical she is still on. Run after run, jump after jump, you hold on. Crashing now back towards the bridge Pete commands a couple of clicks to the drag and apply pressure... in all we hooked up 18 Tarpon. To land one of these beauties everything needs to go right. For us finally bringing a 125 lber to the boat will live in our memories for ever. Fishing is a joy and we have been lucky enough to visit and experience some amazing trips but to be honest 4 hours with Capt Pete on the Tarpon Roller Coaster at Bahia Honda will leave you thrilled, happy , exhausted and begging for more!!!!!

Brian BensonWe just returned from another amazing trip with Bahia Honda Tarpon Charters. I had the opportunity to fish with Captain Kevin last year and could not wait to get back here. We had a few other guys come down this year based on our experience the year before and Pete Rapps hooked us up with Captain Shelby. I almost don't even want to write a review and selfishly try and keep this place and these guys to myself. But that would not be fair to them as this is what they do for a living and they do it better than anyone down there. We fished three days with these guys and once again we put on a clinic. I honestly cannot tell you how may fish we hooked over the three days but it was a lot. Between the bridge, the hammerheads, and a few pulled hooks we had our challenges but we still caught more fish than I could of expected. We caught some real big dogs too over the 100lb mark. I don't even know what else to say but this place is special and this outfit is special. Great guys who understand the fishery and more importantly respect it. Heck, one day the guys who were fishing with Shelby decided since they have already played around with so many tarpon for two days they wanted to try something different the last day. They ran a little ways offshore and were treated to their first black-fin tunas and a pile of what we call up here False Albacore. Some real nice ones too. We even sat down with Kevin and Shelby after each trip and ate some food and drank some beers. Great experience and cannot wait until next year as this trip is the fishing trip I will do every year for as long as Pete has an outfit like this going. Thanks again for putting us on em and truly having an awesome time!

Lee SimmsFantastic fishing with great guides! I took my Dad and Godfather from the United Kingdom to the Bahia Honda to catch Tarpon and what an experience it was!! Capt Pete was fantastic in addition to Capt Nate, and Capt Shelby also took us offshore for a fishing trip none of us will ever forget. Hard fighting fish with fantastic guides in beautiful weather, what's not to love! Would recommend these guys to anyone.

Josh H.I've fished many charters, all of which take a back seat to the times I've fished with these guys!
My wife went down for our anniversary the first weekend in June, and literally spent more time fighting fish than waiting for another fish to bite. How many charters can say that? It seems that finding fish is not hard for them. I've fished many places. You will not find a better place and guide to fish Tarpon. While Tarpon can be very hard to boat, we have boated fish on every trip we've taken with these guys. Plus, we fought plenty of other fish that either threw the hook, or we broke off because of the massive sharks that prowl the area. That's a rush in itself. As said earlier, I can almost promise you that you will get bit.... First by a giant Tarpon or two, then by the urge to go back and do it again! Already looking forward to going back, it's only been a week! Josh H Princeton, Minnesota |
Kimmeron LisleWe have Tarpon fished across the state of Florida and certainly know an expert guide when we fish with him. When it comes to Bahia Honda Tarpon fishing, I'm not sure you can find a better Captain to put you on a constant stream of jumping, fighting, back-breaking Silver Kings! Captain Rapps comes 100% prepared with superior equipment, a plentiful variety of baits and prolific knowledge of the area.
His boat is comfortable and thankfully equipped with a fighting chair (many Keys captains don't have a chair) which is essential for epic battles with Tarpon over 100 pounds. He is professional, patient and personable - the kind of Captain you look forward to spending hours fishing with. Fair warning: Captain Rapps books up months in advance. If you truly want a Tarpon experience of a lifetime, book early and book multiple trips - because Captain Rapps is the best choice in the Florida Keys for Bahia Honda Tarpon. Kimberly D.My Family and I had gone on a Tarpon Fishing Charter with Capt Pete in early June of this year. We had an awesome trip! Not only did they put us on a lot fish, but they gave my mom the confidence to get back out on the water!! She had a bad experience with a charter and had gotten sick, she was very apprehensive. But, Capt Pete is great as well as awesome fisherman!! We had a blast!! You can tell that they really love what they do!! They are very knowledgeable and they offer superior service!! That was my mom & dad's first Tarpon Charter!! My brother and I had been on another charter before, but it was nothing compared to Bahia Honda with Capt Pete!! Capt Pete has a line of seasonings and hot sauces also!! They are awesome!! We definitely look forward to fishing with them again soon!!

Rick DardasWe booked a couple Tarpon charter trips with Bahia Honda Tarpon Charters in early June. Simply amazing!
On our first trip we hooked a half dozen silver kings in a variety of sizes from feisty middleweights to what must have been hundred + pounders, and landed many of them. The fighting chair on the bow makes the experience fun by taking a lot of muscle out of the game so you can enjoy working the fish. We were glad we had booked a trip the second day. It gave us pretty much the same experience, but we knew what to expect and were better prepared to get photos the second time around. The reviews you see here are spot on - These guys know tarpon fishing in a way that is nothing less than scientific. They love to teach you the optimal methods in a non-intimidating way that makes it fun. This is a trip that can be enjoyed by both expert and novice fishermen. Rick Dardas, Naples, FL |
Arne KozakCapt Rapps,
Karen and I want to thank you again for what was the most productive charter we have ever taken. We had eight Tarpon hookups in under 4 hours! AMAZING! I have been fishing for over 50 years and have used the services of many captains, and have come to realize almost anyone can find fish, but it takes skills and knowledge to get those fish to bite. You Captain Rapps, have that skill and knowledge! Your use of a fighting chair for these Tarpon on a flats boat is one of the best ideas I have come across. Not only did we hook alot of fish, but you showed us a great time doing it. From now on you are our guide in Florida! We look forward to multiple trips with you from now on. Feel free to give our contact information to anyone looking for a reference. See you next year. Thanks again, Arne and Karen Kozak |
Chuck WhiteThanks for a blast on the fishing trip of a lifetime! My son and I will always remember our trip with you all, and the 6 boated Tarpon we had that morning.
Your experience as a Charter Captain & handling of fishing equipment and operation of your boat and a safe release of all Tarpon can not be beat! Hope to see you again next time we come down to the Florida Keys . Tight lines Chuck White Pearl River NY |
Ed AltwiesCapt Pete,
I want to thank you for the best fishing adventures of my life! Tarpon fishing at Bahia Honda Bridge area of Big Pine Key, Florida was an awesome experience that I will never forget. You’re a true professional Capt Rapps, and it was joy to spend four days tarpon fishing with you. It does not take long for one to realize that you take your profession very seriously and most importantly you enjoy what you are doing. Your patience and desire that everyone hook up and land multiple tarpon was greatly appreciated by everyone in our group. The entire fishing trip was an awesome experience that I have re-lived many times back at home telling all of my friends and family. I think everyone is tired of my stories about the large tarpon, worm hatch, sharks and the great Captain Rapps! Thanks again and I look forward to the opportunity to experience the Chokoloskee, Everglades City, and the 10,000 island areas of the Everglades National Park on a future trip. Thank you!
